Hellboy Statue collectible
Hello Everyone,
This is an original take on Hellboy Statue, a medieval demon statue inspired by Hellboy comic books and movies. It’s a great change to work on dark fantasy characters once in a while. There aren’t many Hellboy Figures out there, but I simply wanted to create a new original version of prince of hell. The general theme is a mixture of dark Medieval and Viking Era, creating a new look for the warrior prince of darkness.
I didn’t want to compete with another person’s work or compare my work to others. Hellboy statue was simply a private project with established direction. I kept the base small but I added elements that highlighted the dark fantasy genre and displayed the sense of adventure. The demon or the Hellboy figure needed to look like it’s in a dungeon while dangerous monsters are lurking around. That ensures the overall look of the Hellboy Statue will be interesting and engaging. I avoided adding the fire effect to the sword, since it was a better choice to show the design of the sword clearly to the audience. Also elements such as fire, water, or smoke don’t look good on statues.
I’ve also included a few images of the printed and painted Hellboy statue as well. I’m always cautious to cut the model in a way that it never has seam lines; therefore it leads to a smooth process while I never have to worry about covering those lines. Getting the Hellboy’s vibrant skin tone was a challenge, since paints tend to get dark as they dry and various shades of red didn’t really work well together, I slightly added some yellow and orange to the red skin tone, to create a smooth contrast.
